The FLY (Fierce Life Youth) Football Camps (formerly the Angel Tree Football Clinics) are Free Events for 7-14 year old boys and girls who have an incarcerated parent, live in high risk communities, or are otherwise underserved. The events are co-sponsored (at most locations) by the local chapters of the NFL Alumni Association and by Fierce Life Youth, Inc., a charitable organization which is dedicated to Uplifting Kids of Promise and the communities in which they reside . The Camps brings together kids from local communities to share a day with former College and NFL Football players who serve as volunteer coaches and mentors for the day. The Camp day is dedicated to Football skills development, teamwork, sportsmanship, positive male role modeling and most of all pure fun! All kids who attend the clinic receive a gift bag with a Team T-Shirt, and many other great “goodies” by which to remember their special day . The Camps also feature a catered luncheon for all Camp participants, autograph signing by former Players, Inspirational Speakers and a Lifting Kids Up Ceremony to celebrate all of the kids who participate in the Camps.
The original Angel Tree Football Clinics were co-founded by Fierce Life Now, LLC, Chief Executive William "Billy" Anderson, a Stanford University graduate and former Runningback/Kick Returner, Special Teams Captain, 2-Time Bowl Champion, and Unsung Hero Award Winner for the Stanford University Football Team. Anderson's co-founding partner is longtime friend and colleague Joe Avila, who recently retired from the position of National Director, Sports Camps & Special Events for original Camp sponsor, Prison Fellowship.
The two friends saw the need to create a positive experience for at-risk and underserved kids in Northern and Central California. Thus, in 2005, with the help and partnership of the late Coach Ben Parks, Prison Fellowship, and the Stanford University Football program, Billy and Joe co-founded the original Angel Tree Football Clinic at Stanford University. In 2016, the Angel Tree Football Clinic partnered with the NFL Alumni-Northern California to create the Angel Tree Football Clinic/NFL Alumni Youth of America Week signature event in Redwood City, California!
In 2020, several prominent supporters of the Football Camps came together, with Angel Tree Football Clinics Co-Founder Billy Anderson to form a new organization, Fierce Life Youth (FLY). This new leadership group’s focus is on improving and expanding the scope, reach, and impact of the Youth Football Camps and building on the legacy of previous Camps, including the signature Bay Area Camp, as well as Camps in Fresno, California; Palm Beach, Florida; Detroit, Michigan; San Antonio, Texas; Dallas, Texas (in partnership with the Dallas Cowboys); and Los Angeles, California, (in partnership with the Los Angeles Rams).
Additional FLY Football Camps are being planned for Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona in the near future. More than 5,000 kids and 500 former NFL and College Players have participated in these Football Camps across the U.S. over the years.
